BIO

Brazilian artist André Januário has developed a dynamic career as a performer, conductor, educator, and researcher. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in the United States, Europe, and Latin America and held positions as assistant principal bassoon at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro Symphony Orchestra (Rio de Janeiro Opera & Ballet House), as principal bassoon at Caxias do Sul Symphony Orchestra (OSUCS), and at Theatro São Pedro Chamber Orchestra in Porto Alegre, Brazil. In the U.S., he has collaborated as a bassoonist in several symphonic ensembles in West Virginia, Maryland, Tennessee, Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin, among other groups.
At McGill University, Dr. Januário is an associate researcher at the Input Devices and Music Interaction Laboratory (IDMIL) and a member of the Applied Performance Sciences Hub and Music Education Laboratory at Schulich School of Music in Montréal, Canada.
